About APT Women
APT Women* provides short-term, intensive training programs for women entrepreneurs aiming to scale their business. By supporting their development of management skills and providing them opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs, business partners and supporters – such as those from venture capital, media, and large corporations – we provide women entrepreneurs the resources and network necessary for business development.
Upon completion of the program, we expect program participants to act as role models for other women in Tokyo who have already started or are considering starting a business. We hope to foster awareness of entrepreneurship to women living in Tokyo, and to demonstrate to modern women the potential of entrepreneurship as a new path in life and career development.
- APT Women* : Acceleration Program in Tokyo for Women
The mentors of this program consist of experienced entrepreneurs and professionals from Japanese and foreign companies, venture capitals, and the media. They will provide expert advice to each participant attending the program.
By obtaining practical advice from those who are active in the front lines of a large range of industries and fields, participants can effectively overcome obstacles to scale and obtain new insights into their business.
Supporters of this program are organizations that provide business support tools and opportunities free of charge, or with discounts. The supporters consist of companies, public entities, universities, and other organizations that share our passion and interest in supporting the success of venture companies run by women.
These groups and organizations provide opportunities that are usually inaccessible -- such as participation in programs conducted in co-working spaces and hubs for highly motivated entrepreneurs, or in pitch events at famous academic institutions -- which are aimed to motivate the participants, increase their exposure, and connect them with unique people and resources.
This short-term intensive program is composed of two parts; the domestic program and the international program. With a focus on growth, the domestic program provides women entrepreneurs a 3-month acceleration program to obtain management knowledge, skills and networks necessary to scale or internationally expand their businesses. In consideration of the diverse needs of the participants, their startup stage and business type, we will evaluate and designate whether the entrepreneur shall, at the current moment, focus on business development within Japan, or challenge themselves to seek international markets. Those selected as ready for international expansion would move on to participate in the overseas dispatch program for two weeks.
The domestic acceleration program consists of (1) individual mentoring sessions (conducted bi-weekly in principle, 6 classes in total); (2) participatory events and programs such as networking events, workshops, and pitch events, (conducted bi-weekly in principle, 6 times in total); and (3) structured lectures (conducted each week in principle, 12 classes in total).
